19 Predictions For This Fall's MetaCritic Gaming Scores

2. Xenoblade Chronicles X

MetaCritic Score: 89 What To Expect: One of the year's most engrossing RPG experiences, albeit one that sadly many gamers will miss out on due to the game's exclusivity on Wii U. The original Wii version of Xenoblade Chronicles holds an impressive 92 on MetaCritic, and from what's been shown off so far, it looks like X will be a worthy follow-up. Where to begin? The graphics look excellent for a console that technically trails the PS4 and Xbox One so blatantly, the addition of 4-player online multiplayer has the potential to be amazing, the gameplay (especially the combat) looks brilliantly fluid, and if the voice acting is solid, it should age much better than the original (which is hard not to laugh at these days). Even with its fine-tuning, though, don't be surprised if it doesn't feel quite as fresh and unique as what came before. RPG plots are pretty nonsensical at the best of times, but if it doesn't feel as gathered as the original, it could fall into the mid-to-late 80s. Release Date: It's been out in Japan since April 29, but for everyone else, December 4.
