20 Announced Video Games That Are NEVER Coming Out

Technically speaking this game is currently on a 2027 release schedule. But for a game that has seen so much turbulence on its development journey, it is very much a we-will-believe-it-when-we-see-it situation. The sequel to one of Telltale Games’ biggest critical and commercial success stories, the Wolf Among Us 2 was first announced in 2017. Production however was a rocky affair. The studio underwent mass layoffs in 2018, casting doubt on the project. In the same year Telltale faced bankruptcy and were only saved as a result of LCG Entertainment acquiring their major assets and relaunching operations. 

In 2019 however the game was revived, accompanied by a short teaser. Things seemed to be on track after that, but trouble followed this game like murders in Fabletown. The revised 2023 release date had to be re-revised because the production team wanted to make a small change; the small matter of the development platform. Switching from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 may have improved the quality of the game, but it meant the finished product was still some way away. 

Finally, in Summer Game Fest this year, the game’s next and hopefully final release date was confirmed. While we all hope this time around, Bigby’s big return does actually happen, given its history, caution is very much advised.
