20 Announced Video Games That Are NEVER Coming Out
5. Star Wars: Eclipse
Back to the galaxy far, far away for this one. Announced in 2021 and under development at Quantic Dream, a studio renowned for delivering quality story-driven games, Eclipse is another game with a lot of potential. After all, who doesn't want to experience new Star Wars lore and explore multiple characters and endings set in the High-Republic era.
Soon enough however, the usual suspects reared their ugly heads. A report by Gamekult highlighted that the studio was suffering from a dearth of resources and a lack of creative direction regarding the game. Earlier this year, they had cancelled one of their most recent projects, the live service game Spellcasters Chronicles, a mere few months after its initial launch.
The Spellcasters cancellation sparked fears of imminent mass layoffs, believed to exceed a hundred, which would subsequently hobble Eclipse, as many of the staff facing the axe would be essential for the project. This culminated in a STJV union organized strike in front of the studio's headquarters in Paris. Despite all this however, Quantic has insisted Star Wars: Eclipse remains on course, with sufficient resources to ensure the game is completed as per its original conception.
