20 Announced Video Games That Are NEVER Coming Out

2. Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth

Blade Runner game

This one is as close as you can get to being cancelled outright. The Sword of Damocles isn't so much as hanging over its head as it is starting to dig into its nape. Confirmed in 2023 by developer Annapurna Interactive, the narrative game was set to become part of the long-running and multimedia-spanning Bladerunner universe, with its story taking place after the Blade Runner: Black Lotus anime.

Within a year however things had started to go off the rails. The entire game development team at Annapurna Interactive resigned, as a result of a management disputes after attempts at partitioning the gaming division into its own company broke down. Although there were suggestions that work on the game would continue, the project has not progressed since.

The hammer blow came when the game was delisted from Steam and its page on Annapurna's own website disappeared. Returning the world of the Blade Runner in a story-driven immersive experience was certainly a very inviting prospect, but right now its chances of ever getting released look more grim than life in a dystopian Los Angeles.
