It was way back in December 2019 that 2K finally confirmed a new BioShock game was in development - the first since 2013's BioShock Infinite.

We've heard virtually nothing from 2K about the long-awaited immersive sim sequel, though last August Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that 2K was unimpressed with an internal review of the game and sought to overhaul the project before release.

This led to key personnel being dismissed or reassigned elsewhere in developer Cloud Chamber, before the outfit had 30% of its staff cut later that month.

None of this suggested that BioShock 4 was in good shape or anywhere close to releasing, of course, and though Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick promised fans last year that the game would 100% come out, not even a vague release window has been offered.

Schreier's report indicated that BioShock 4 was originally set to bow in late 2026 or early 2027, but with the recent shake-ups 2028 seems like the absolute earliest we'll get it, and much later shouldn't surprise anyone.
