20 Awful Characters In Amazing Games
10. Molly O'Shea (Red Dead Redemption 2)
This entry is about to commit a heinous, cardinal sin - criticising Red Dead Redemption 2. Please, put your Cattleman Revolvers down.
Yes, while Red Dead Redemption 2 is just about as close as you can get to a perfect video game, there are a few puzzle pieces that fit a little awkwardly, and this Irish queen is one of them.
Molly O'Shea is a member of the Dutch Van Der Linde Gang, and, unfortunately, the most underdeveloped character in the game. Her ambiguous relationship with Dutch is confusing, and she has no major involvement in missions or impact on the camp. The worst of all, however, is that her overarching story (which will remain unspoiled here) had a lot of potential, but it was played like an afterthought, as you had to hunt her down to get hints of it, and she dismissed your interactions each time.
What really makes Molly so noticeably bad is that she's up against such impeccable competition. Even the smallest characters in the gang are well developed, with folks like Karen, Mary-Beth, and Tilly - who are essentially extras - having firmly established personalities and character arcs. In contrast, Molly is all over the place, which makes her stick out like a sore thumb.
