20 Basic Video Game Skills That Are Secretly Broken
16. Calm - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Illusion might be one of the most underrated schools of magic in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Being able to temporarily influence NPCs doesn't sound as fun as destructive fireballs and summoning atronachs, especially when it's something as simple-sounding as Calm, which does nothing more than turn hostile creatures non-hostile.
However, Calm might be one of the most broken spells in the game when you know how to use it.
Although other illusion spells like Fury, which causes enemies to fight each other, and Fear, which causes them to flee, sound more useful, Calm is secretly a weapon you can use to obliterate any enemy in the game without a fight.
Since NPCs under the influence of Calm stay in one place and don't want to fight you, you can easily sneak attack them for a ton of damage, and if they somehow survive, all it takes is casting Calm again to rinse and repeat.
To top it off, the spell is the most cost-effective Illusion power, can be upgraded to work on even the highest-level enemies, and if you master Illusion, it can even impact the undead and automatons.
By that point, clearing dungeons will be a breeze.
