5. Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception
Tomb Raider used to be the top dog when it came to exploration. Back in those days Naughty Dog just made games about Crash Bandicoot. Now a new contender has taken the adventure crown straight from Lara Crofts glorious dome: Nathan Drake. Unchartered 3 provides everything youd want from any modern adventure title and successfully mixes it with the traditional elements from the old Tomb Raider games. Expect some of the grandest set pieces in gaming in some of the most exotic and glamorous locations around the globe platforming in a capsized cruise ship springs to mind. The spectacle is on a massive scale with this game but it works because it has an interesting plot and a tight script to keep it grounded. The plot surrounds Nathans ancestor the famous traveller Sir Francis Drake and his bid to locate the lost city of Ubar. The plot takes you all across the world, before you eventually end up in the ancient city. It is the basic trying to get there before the bad guys do story but its extremely unpredictable and its movie quality storytelling and tight script brings the plot to life. Like the traditional adventure games theres still plenty of shooting and climbing in spectacular locations. Naughty Dog have done an excellent job of applying their top-notch graphics to some brilliant and genuinely exciting set pieces. Its everything an adventure game could hope to be.
