14. Barthandelus - Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy XIII won't make many lists with the word "best" in the title, but one saving grace from the game were the encounters with Bathandelus. There's a certain mixture of pride and relief that comes with finally vanquishing a recurring foe, and by the third time you've brought him down you've been forced to use almost every fighting technique and strategy in the game. FF XIII's Paradigm battle system had its flaws, but against Bathandelus you could at least see what Square Enix were trying to do. Plus, for Final Fantasy purists, here was a huge and grandiose adversary with some stunningly surreal character design - something that's becoming a rarer sight as the franchise has aged.
