20 Best Video Game Reveals From E3 2018
8. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Going into E3, there was endless debate over what From Software had been working on since shipping Dark Souls III. Rumours suggested anything from Bloodborne 2 to Tenchu, with many expecting the developers to have a major blowout at Playstation's event.
Of course, they subverted everyone's expectations by announcing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at Microsoft's conference. Breaking away from the Souls mould that has defined them for nearly a decade now, Sekiro was presented as being a much faster paced, more vertical game than anything the studio has ever produced.
There were flairs of their past work still present, with the weapon-shifting and combat in particular being evocative of Bloodborne, but the comparisons pretty much began and ended there. Promising a more straightforward story than the abstract narratives which made Dark Souls so popular, it's clear that with Sekiro, From are attempting to prove that they can be more diverse than their previous projects may suggest.
