While a last-minute leak forced Ubisoft to announce Assassin's Creed: Odyssey before E3, it received its first official unveiling at their conference, diving deep into the story as well as the overhauled, RPG-focused gameplay.

With the ability for players to choose their protagonist, decide what to say in dialogue and upgrade their characters to specific builds, it's clear that the sequel is going to be more player-focused than ever. Combined with the deep loot and expanded combat system, Odyssey seems to be a far cry from the copy-and-paste instalments that resulted in the franchise going on an extended break a few years ago.

It helped that it looked absolutely stunning too, with the vistas of Ancient Greece proving to be perfect for a game like this. It's clear that Ubi are trying to squeeze every last bit of juice out of current-gen consoles, with Odyssey absolutely nailing everything from character models to the locations to the overall art design.

It was the star of Ubi's how, and proved once and for all that Assassin's Creed is back.
