15. Resident Evil: Revelations 2
All Resident Evil fans want is to carry on where Resi 4 left off. Shinki Mikami's spiritual sequel The Evil Within did a remarkable job at connoting a similar tone with its misty villages and burlap sack-wearing chainsaw men, but if you want primely labelled horror in the franchise you already know and love, it's through Revelations. As something of an offshoot from the main string of releases, the first game vastly reduced the more action-heavy quick-time event mechanics that were taking over Resi 5 and 6, putting a focus on exploring dilapidated structures and dimly-lit enemy-filled corridors, and it's a spirit part two carries on. In addition, the campaign is intended for you and a buddy to share in the thrills, opening up the puzzle side of things to requiring a good chunk of communication if you're to get in the right place at the right time. The story itself is actually remarkably gripping, and thanks to the episodic nature of everything at launch, allowed Capcom to routinely end on cliffhangers that we had to wait precious weeks to see resolved. If you missed the camp stylings of old school Resi and its loveable cast of characters, check out Revelations 2 - it'll definitely hold you over until whatever Resident Evil 7 turns out to be.
