20 Biggest Video Game Bombs Of 2025
9. Dreams Of Another
The first thing that stands out about Dreams of Another is how absolutely gorgeous it looks. Pixeljunk's ambitious shooter has players take control of a man in pyjamas who's traversing across a dream landscape. Each object and environment is composed of cloud-like particles, giving everything an otherworldly vibe.
As luscious as it appears, it isn't long before the gameplay grows stale. After an initial sense of wonder, the act of shooting to build, rebuild, or materialise pixelated objects becomes boring.
Even though a reality that exists within the subconscious should be disjointed, Dreams of Another seems more interested in abstract symbolism than coherence. Because of this, any moment that's meant to be poignant comes across as meaningless noise.
The project was handled by Baiyon, who orchestrated the music for Big Little Planet 2, so it's no surprise the score is on point. However, the tracks lose their impact when paired with the flat voice-acting.
Next to nobody is playing Dream of Another, so anybody who has the slightest interest in the concept may want to give the maligned indie a whirl before it's gone for good.
