20 Biggest Video Game Bombs Of 2025

Even though many video games tank for not being ambitious enough, MindsEye sounded fascinating, making its failure more tragic. Using a game-creation system called Everywhere, players can add user-generated content into their playthrough. Producer, Leslie Benzies, believed this mechanic had untapped potential and expected MindsEye to evolve into a franchise that explored different timelines, regions, and go beyond the realms of space.

Of course, these grandiose plans went down the tubes since MindsEye turned out very, very badly. NPCs freeze, textures disappear, and progress erases with such regularity, it's impossible to understand why the devs thought this clunker was acceptable to release. If the gameplay isn't stuttering or crashing, gameplay caps at 30fps, even on a high-end system.

If MindsEye was remotely playable, it wouldn't matter since the gameplay and design is uninspired and derivative. Despite being promoted as next‑gen, the missions resemble poorly constructed rail-shooters.

And that's not even looking at the internal side of this catastrophe. The development was rife with mismanagement, poor work conditions, rushed deadlines, and unbearable overtime, making success borderline impossible. Co-CEO, Mark Gerhard, went into full conspiracy mode, claiming MindsEye's negative reception was part of a malicious act conducted by a third-party.

Despite Gerhard's wild accusations, it seems more likely that MindsEye is just terrible.
