To paraphrase The Lord of the Rings, "A day may come when Grand Theft Auto VI is released... but it is not this day."

Rockstar's billion-dollar sequel is so far away, it's hard to believe the first official trailer was in 2023. Although the teaser generated a ton of hype, players were bummed out to learn GTA VI wouldn't see the light of day until the fall 2025.

Of course, long-time purists were more upset, since they knew it was highly likely they'd have to wait longer. Sure enough, the release date was changed to 26th May 2026. Rockstar reassured their fanbase, stating the extra time was needed to ensure GTA VI was fine-tuned to perfection.

The studio's decision was understandable, but it was a bitter pill to swallow, especially when the epic crime caper was delayed again by another six months. Worst of all, nobody would be gobsmacked if GTA VI is pushed back to 2027.

Now, this delay doesn't rank higher on our list, since we kinda saw it coming. Nevertheless, it's still among the most frustrating gaming announcements of the year.
