20 Dead Gaming Franchises That NEED To Come Back

2. Legacy Of Kain

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is a gothic RPG centred around a vengeful vampire called Kain. Although it was a solid game, the sequel was next level.

Unlike its predecessor, Soul Reaver emphasised 3D platforming, puzzle-solving, and exploration from a third-person perspective. It had a darker, cinematic tone, and focused on moral themes about fate and free will.  The melee-oriented and combo-based combat was so revolutionary, its influence can be observed in action-adventure titles for decades to come.

Even though Soul Reaver I + II got remastered last year, nothing new has spawned from Legacy of Kain in a long time.

This is a shame since there are many places the franchise can go. With Kain and Raziel’s saga rich in lore, there’s potential for prequels, sequels, or spin-offs exploring different eras of Nosgoth. Not many games nowadays deliver gothic horror well, so a new Legacy of Kain could fill that niche.

It's also worth mentioning that Legacy of Kain was considered ahead of its time because it focused on morally complex characters and philosophical themes. Series like The Witcher and God of War highlight that modern audiences admire deep storytelling, so another Legacy of Kain should be appreciated more than ever.
