20 Dead Gaming Franchises That NEED To Come Back

1. Batman: Arkham

Although this is the most recent entry in our list, Batman: Arkham does seem very dead at this moment after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League sullied its reputation.

With that said, Rocksteady’s DC project is too groundbreaking to throw away. Batman: Arkham redefined superhero gaming by blending deep storytelling, fluid combat, and immersive exploration in a way that few franchises have matched. Its free-flow combat system became the blueprint for countless action games (we're talking about you, Spider-Man), while the atmospheric world design captured Gotham’s grit and complexity like never before. Batman: Arkham balanced fan service with innovation, introducing iconic villains while pushing the dark knight into new psychological and moral territory.

Yes, Arkham Knight wrapped Bruce Wayne’s story up but there’s nothing stopping the story from continuing, either with a reboot or focusing on The Bat Family (like Gotham Knights).

Suicide Squad was an epic misfire, but it showed the IP could branch out to other DC properties, like Superman or Wonder Woman, leaving endless possibilities.

A comeback wouldn’t just satisfy nostalgia, but reinvigorate superhero gaming. The Bat-signal is still shining, and it’s time for Batman: Arkham to answer it once again.
