20 Games That Made The Movies BETTER

10. The Warriors (2005)

In an unconventional move Rockstar returned to Walter Hill's cult classic actioner The Warriors some 25+ years after its release in 2005. Talk about striking while the iron is freezing. And yet, they managed to revitalise a cult property and knock out one hell of a game in the process.

The beat 'em up game takes us across NYC on the Warriors fateful night, fighting through other gangs' territories to get home to Coney Island. All the iconic faces are carried over from the film, and the game offers the chance to get up close and personal with a whole bunch of gangs who are briefly mentioned and barely seen in the film, including the Panzers and the Electric Eliminators.

Using some of those Grand Theft Auto mechanics on something different for a change (and a whole year before Canis Canem Edit!), the game feels exactly how a Warriors game ought to feel, with a combat style that is authentic to the rough-n-tumble of the film. Plus there are five flashback missions that go beyond the big screen's story to explain how the key Warriors members found their way into the gang.
