20 Games That Made The Movies BETTER
14. Mad Max (2015)
George Miller brought Mad Max back from extinction in 2015, with Fury Road: a no holds barred apocalyptic action movie with epic cars, OTT bad guys and a monosyllabic Tom Hardy in the lead role.
Hot on the heels of the film, and riding the coattails of tis many accolades, came a game that nobody thought would work. Mad Max adopted the Fury Road aesthetics and trailers looked good, but the assumption was that this was a classic movie tie-in cash-in. Not so!
Mad Max supplements and expands the new Max universe in equal measure. And it's got everything: lush visuals, an Arkham-esque combat system, meaningful driving (although it would be hard not to, given the sandy expanse of Max's world), authentic characterisation and a story that feels worth your while, and which dovetails nicely with the Fury Road film. There are loads of Easter eggs and character cameos, and Miller himself even consulted on the game during production and gave it his sign off as an official piece of the Mad Max world. This is a game that does for Max what Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga did for Furiosa, and thoroughly complements the film experience.
