20 Greatest Female Video Game Characters Of All Time
11. Heather Mason
For those who had become a bit tired of Silent Hill's tendency to cast the player as angsty middle-aged dudes after the release of the admittedly genre-defining second game, Konami went the extra mile to make gamers feel even more vulnerable in the third by making the main character a high school teenager. But after the first level it was obvious that Heather Mason, like her famed father before her, was just as competent when it came to holding off the hordes of monsters and solving the mysteries of Silent Hill. However, unlike the protagonists of the previous games, Heather provided some much needed levity from the often overly-dreary earlier releases, allowing the developers to poke fun at even themselves in a few imaginative meta jokes. Although the scares were still there, Heather gave the third game that much more personality and creativity, which ultimately allowed it to stand apart as a vastly different entity from its two similar predecessors.
