20 Greatest PC Games Of All Time

1. Deus Ex

The holy grail of freeform gameplay, Deus Ex's blend of multiple genres and moody cyberpunk world made for possibly the greatest single-player campaign of all time. Imitated by many, but surpassed by none, Deus Ex really made the player feel like they were in control of how the story progressed. Deus Ex is a shooter. It's an RPG. It's a stealth game. It's a platformer. It's an action game. Depending on what sort of player you are, it has the potential to be any and all of those things. Thanks to the multitude of tools, weapons and augmentations available, Deus Ex gave players everything they needed to play through the various encounters in whatever way they wanted. As well as the individual gameplay encounters, there was also a sprawling, branching narrative, that somehow managed to bring everything to a satisfying conclusion regardless of what path you took or which main characters you killed. Don't let the dated graphics (there are some fantastic player-created mods that help a lot) or poor voice acting scare you away. Deus Ex is the real deal, and is just about the most satisfying, compelling video game ever released, on any platform. Do you disagree with any of the choices on this list?
