20 Greatest Shooters Ever Made

8. BioShock

BioShock was one of the biggest sleeper hits of last decade, blowing gamers away with its blend of fast, thoughtful gameplay and incredibly immersive atmosphere. Taking place in the underwater city of Rapture, BioShock set a bold new standard for narrative-driven gameplay. The combat of Bioshock offered a unique blend of gunplay, heavy melee and plasmids. The plasmids were the game's equivalent of magic, rewarding the player for making use of the environment. For example, it was possible to lure enemies into a large puddle, then electrocute them using your lightning plasmid. These powers were also integral to the narrative, and the way everything was designed to make Rapture feel like a terrifyingly real place made BioShock something very special.
