20 Most Hotly Anticipated Games Still To Come In 2014
13. Dragon Age: Inquisition (Oct 7)
BioWare burned a lot of players with the underwhelming Dragon Age II, which casualised the experience of the first game beyond belief and basically felt like a garden-variety RPG. The developer has promised that the third game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, will be a sure return to form, offering up the intricate gameplay that made the original such a hit. Whereas Dragon Age II stripped away the epic scope in favour of overwhelming convenience, Inquisition is all about customisation and exploration: players are required to capture forts to spread the influence of The Inquisition throughout the land as the campaign progresses. Then there's the combat, which restores the tactical view from the first game and adds a greater level of strategy to fighting beyond repetitively battering something until it drops. The footage shown off so far looks visually stunning, and though we can't help but still be a little bit skeptical that BioWare have fixed every niggling issue, it certainly sounds like they've made vast improvements upon the previous title. Predicted MetaCritic Score: 84 (hell, Dragon Age II scored 82!)
