20 Major Video Games You Forgot Were Happening
9. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is often cited as one of the greatest Star Wars video games of all time. Originally releasing for the Xbox in 2003, the RPG whisked players to a galaxy far, far away, thousands of years before the events of the original Star Wars trilogy. It's been ported and rereleased numerous times, making it currently playable in its original format for a much broader audience.
During a PlayStation Showcase in 2021, the remake was announced with a short, cinematic teaser, promising to rebuild BioWare's beloved title from the ground up. However, to say it's had a rough ride in development so far would be an understatement, moving from Aspyr to Saber Interactive during reports of issues and delays. Thankfully, the project has been confirmed to still be in development, with it briefly popping up on a recent Lucasfilm Games sizzle reel, although no new footage was shown.
At this point, the huge time gap between the game's narrative and the events of the original movies feels like it will be about the same as the gap between the game's announcement and eventual release.
