20 Most Anticipated Video Games Still Coming In 2017

1. Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey
Nintendo

Release Date: 27th Oct

Although PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a phenomenal runaway success, nothing beats the next Mario. Especially when said game looks to be following on from possibly the best Marios of them all: The Galaxy series.

Though at time of writing I've no idea what the 'story' behind Mario visiting everywhere from cityscapes to prehistoric locales is, his new possession-loving cap - called Cappy - means you can control literally every moving thing. Even some non-moving things, like bending a lamppost and releasing it to catapult yourself up a building.

And speaking of buildings, everything from bouncing off cars to talking to NPCs, controlling tanks to using your hat as a foothold to climb higher is up for grabs. Nintendo have said they're putting more collectibles in this than any past Mario, so regardless of whether you're on the go or spending hours hunting every last new Power Moon collectible, Odyssey will be something that many Mario fans will get lost in for days at a time.

Also, kinda like Breath of the Wild, Odyssey's structure has both a number of shorter missions and goals to complete (the Shrines), alongside larger overarching story-based objectives, perfectly fitting the Switch's dual use sensibility.

I.cannot.WAIT.
