Slaking is a Pokémon that's favoured by many as it boasts a tremendous base stat total, coming it at some seventy points ahead of most of the games' standard Dragon types. While this sounds impressive on paper, it's still not enough to make Slaking perfect.

For a start, as a pure Normal type Pokémon it is unable to draw STAB boosts from a great number of the stronger moves available to it. Its own moveset it also lacking a lot in the way of devastation, meaning its huge Attack stat is limited by what its trainers can claw out of middling move power.

It's also hugely susceptible to ranged attacks with a lowly Special Defence and, since many people more regularly rely on these to avoid the effects of new damage-dealing abilities, it can be undone quickly before it's able to build a head of steam and slow a battle down.
