20 Most Terrifying Video Game Enemies Of The Decade

15. The Lady - Little Nightmares (2017)

Little Nightmares 2 Ending
Tarsier Studios

Throughout the Little Nightmares trilogy, players will run and hide from a selection of some of the most imaginatively disturbing enemies in recent years. While the long-necked teacher from Little Nightmares 2 and the gargantuan baby from the recent third instalment are worthy contenders for this list, neither of them are as genuinely unnerving as The Lady from the first game.

With her ominous figure being the first thing players see when starting the game, this masked geisha remains a palpable presence as players traverse the grimy bowels of The Maw. By only offering brief glimpses of this mysterious proprietor during the game, developers Tarsier Studios methodically ratchet up the tension as players make their way towards the inevitable confrontation.

When The Lady is reached in her quarters, gazing into a broken mirror while singing a haunting melody, the game takes a sinister supernatural turn. Not only does she unexpectedly disappear in a clever subversion of the player's expectations, but she also teleports behind protagonist Six to give chase without warning.

Topping off the climactic chapter with a nail-biting boss fight, there's no other enemy in this franchise that's as nightmarish as this ghostly geisha.
