17. Goalkeepers Play Worse When They're In Your Team
Goalkeepers are strange beasts. In one game, they can be a brick wall which keeps all shots at bay. In another, they flap at everything and let the softest goals slide past them. It's easily one of the more frustrating elements of Fifa as you don't really control the goalkeeper; you can dictate whether he runs out to challenge a player but that's about it. The actual saves are heavily reliant on the AI. Even stranger, they seem to perform better for other players. You could play a team with De Gea in goal and be unable to beat his cat-like reflexes, yet when you decide to try him for yourself, he flounders about like his arms have suddenly turned to jelly. Generally then, everybody finds a goalkeeper that they trust and sticks with them; messing with the formula too much inevitably leads to disaster.
16. There's Only One Clear Winner In The Ronaldo Or Messi Debate...
People argue all the time over who the best player in the world is. Many would agree that it is Barcelona's Lionel Messi, a man who's goal-to-game ratio defies all logic. Some would argue that Ronaldo is the better player as he's the more complete footballer; if mankind had an alpha male, Cristiano Ronaldo would probably be it. In Fifa, there's no real contest; Ronaldo is the better player by far. He's taller, stronger and his pace is comparable with Messi's. Lionel has a phenomenal left foot, but with 5* Weak Foot, Ronaldo tops him there too. It's why the community values Ronaldo more; on Ultimate Team, Ronaldo's regular card is always more expensive than Messi's. Lionel may adorn the game's cover but we all know who the real superstar is in-game.
