20 Severely Underrated PS4 Games You Must Play

3. Metro: Last Light

Although its gunplay most likely isn't to be as satisfying as Fallout 4's, if you're after something that puts way more emphasis on telling a gritty story over the impetus to explore for the sake of it, 4A Games' Metro series is amassing an increasingly large cult following. There's a really great sense of realism to everything in Metro that Fallout's more lighthearted tone only sporadically indulges in, creating a world where a devastated mankind has ventured underground following a nuclear holocaust, rebuilding from the various texts and socio-political influences left in its wake. Venturing up to the surface isn't the happy-go-lucky 'Maybe you'll find something awesome!' style of Bethesda's franchise, instead it's a poisonous gas-filled hovel of dirt and grime, within the likes of which you'll do battle with all sorts of mutated creatures, literally having to wipe your visor and keep an eye on oxygen levels to avoid succumbing to the wasteland. It combines to set itself apart from Fallout the more you play it, but will more than fill the gap until the next instalment drops later this year - not to mention the narrative setup plays on human nature's destructive tendencies towards one another in a really unique way.
