20 Things Only Pokémon Fans Will Understand
14. A Pokémon Trainer Is Basically The Professor's Child Labourer
The idea of being given a rare Pokémon at age 10 and heading into the wilderness for a life-changing adventure sounds like a pretty good one, wouldn't you agree? It sounds a heck of a lot better than studying Henry VIII and his various wives in a stuffy classroom, after all.
But when you stop to think about the mechanics of the whole arrangement, it starts to get a little more worrying. Putting aside the fact that these immensely powerful monsters could easily massacre a 10 year old trainer, think about the role of the professor in this quest.
As an individual who's supposedly dedicated their whole life to studying Pokémon, isn't it a little strange that your given a completely empty Pokédex to fill at their behest. And think about it; have you ever seen a Pokémon professor do any actual research or work.
The trainer's quest may be somewhat of an adventure, but is it really worth it to be the unpaid labourer for some lazy old dude? (Well it probably is, but it's worth thinking about, no?)
