13. Turning Your Cap Backwards Means Things Are Getting Serious

If you watched (or perhaps still watch) the Pokémon TV series, then you'll be familiar with how essential a good hat is to any aspiring Pokémon Master. Ash Ketchum - protagonist of the series - has certainly had a variety of snazzy numbers for this, and they all serve him with a great purpose.

At crunch times in tough battles or when aiming to capture a new Pokémon, Ash would flip the hat backwards to symbolise just how serious things were about to get. It's a move that permeated young culture in the early 2000s, and still carries a matter of significance with Pokémon fans to this day.

Heck, I put a baseball cap on and slid the peak to the back just as I started working on this piece earlier today. Do I feel ready to conquer the world and be the very best, like no one ever was?

YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT.
