11. Brandon Lee Was Originally Considered To Star In The Movie
The untimely death of Bruce Lee's son Brandon Lee is one of Hollywood's all-time great tragedies, with the actor dying following an on-set accident during production of The Crow, just as he was set to make his industry breakthrough.
At the time of his death, Lee was in consideration to play a major role in Mortal Kombat, with conflicting reports suggesting he was up for either Johnny Cage or Liu Kang.
The latter certainly makes more sense, given that Liu Kang is actually based on Bruce Lee himself, making Brandon the perfect fit to play the character.
But sadly those plans were scuppered when Lee's life was cut short, at which point the brilliant Robin Shou stepped up to play the part.
