12. The Title Was Chosen For A Very Specific Reason
Though Rocket League admittedly isn't the most imaginative of video game titles, it does roll off the tongue nicely enough, while also giving a quick impression of what the game is actually about.
But Psyonix actually chose the name for a more specific reason, that its brevity would allow it to appear fully on basically any digital storefront the game was sold on, compared to the mouthful of word salad that is Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars.
Psyonix founder Hagewood also added that in addition to being easier to remember, it implied a more mature sensibility than their previous "Soccar" game, while designer Davis dubbed their previous game's moniker "the worst game name of all time." Harsh.
