20 Things You Didn't Know About Rocket League

13. Numerous Gameplay Features Were Removed To Keep It Simple

One of the most-praised aspects of Rocket League is the ease for any player, no matter their skill, to simply pick up a controller and start having fun.

Though mastering aerial manoeuvres and stunning trick shots requires endless practise, even the most casual gamer can get to grips with the core gameplay in a matter of minutes.

But earlier iterations of the game were far more complex, including comprehensive power-ups, mini-games, and even having players drive between stadiums to play matches.

Ultimately, the decision was made to streamline the game as much as possible, training the focus strictly on the physics-based vehicular mayhem and online multiplayer functionality.

Though Psyonix has added more ambitious features to Rocket League over the years - namely the brilliant ice hockey and basketball-inspired modes - the core gameplay remains as deliciously simple as ever. Never change it.
