While many understandably expected Baldur's Gate III devs Larian Studios to immediately start work on a sequel, they shocked the world last December by announcing that their next game will be a return to their own classic RPG franchise, Divinity.

This will be the seventh game in the series, and beyond its eye-wateringly beautiful cinematic reveal trailer, Larian has confirmed that it will share the core turn-based design principles of Baldur's Gate III, while also launching in early access ahead of its full-fat release.

And if you thought Larian might rest on their laurels after hitting it out of the stratosphere with their latest game, they've assured players that Divinity will be their biggest and most ambitious title to date.

Quite the claim, but considering the brilliance of their latest release, it sure is exciting to see a major studio bet on themselves rather than take the more obvious path forward.

Don't expect to play it for a good while yet, but it's incredibly easy to have faith in Larian here.
