18. Shark Dentist
Simple, high-concept games still have a place in modern gaming, despite the seemingly boundless developments in graphics, mechanics and gameplay that some of the big studios are managing. And Shark Dentist proves exactly why.
Developed by small studio Alice Games - who have just a handful of simulators plus Broventure, the surprisingly satisfying massive multiplayer co-op action game, to their name thus far - Shark Dentist does exactly what it says on the tin. We get to play as an enamel jockey for gigantic marine predators, treating live sharks in a grotty, backwater clinic while navigating their rougher instincts.
Presented in a multi-angle setup that blends first- and third-person, Shark Dentist forces us to balance tactics, precision and limited resources (rusty saws, flickering lights and not nearly enough anaesthetic) to scrape, scrub and pull the teeth without losing an arm, or worse. Silly fun but an exercise in straight-up suspense, this is a unique horror game that looks to be a head, shoulders and other assorted body parts above the competition.
The game will release on Windows in 2026.
