20 Video Game Sequels NOBODY Defends

Afro Samurai is a franchise that's about as wild and bombastic as it sounds. Beginning with the original manga, written by Takashi Okazaki, it has wowed audiences with its eye-catching visual style, unique blend of cultures, and surprising amount of substance in almost every format. It's no surprise then that the video game adaptation was also great, giving players the chance to kick ass as the titular hero.

Sadly, that magic didn't make its way to the sequel, which was so bad it was removed from storefronts and disowned by its devs. Yikes.

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma suffered from monstrous launch issues, including freezing, crashes, slow frame rates, glitches, and more. It also didn't impress when it ran decently, as the gameplay fell flat and the story was confusing and disjointed, thanks partly to its reliance on jarring flashbacks. It was a flop on every level, something that publisher Versus Evil's general manager, Steve Escalante, refused to sugarcoat.

He openly apologised for the game, pulled it from sale, refunded players, and cancelled the planned volumes 2 and 3. It doesn't get worse than that.
