20 Video Game Skills That Secretly Change The Game

Starfield, Bethesda’s open-world sci-fi RPG, allows you to pick special origin traits during character customization. Most of these either buff your character, like the Adoring Fan trait that grants you a free companion (and an Oblivion easter egg at the same), or give them a challenging start, like the Wanted trait that causes random bounty hunters to chase after you.

Among these traits, there’s also Kids Stuff—an origin that gives your character interactable parents at the price of deducting 2% of your credits every week, so you can send them to your loving mom and pop.

Now, although having actual parents which your Spacefarer can visit and interact with sounds interesting, most people would not justify regularly losing your income because of it. However, the game doesn’t tell you that having supportive parents isn’t just for flavor.

As you progress the story, your mom and dad will eventually start giving you gifts, and these don’t just include a self-baked meatloaf but also a powerful gun and even a spaceship.

Both of these items are unique and can only be obtained if you have the Kids Stuff trait, so you’d better be a good child and support your parents.
