20 Video Game Skills That Secretly Change The Game
13. Cut - Pokemon
Traversing tall grass is one of the most annoying parts of Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green. Entering them makes the game constantly throw random encounters at you, which waste your time and provide next to no experience.
Lucky for you, there is one easy way to get rid of those pesky weeds. It’s just that most people don’t use it because it’s tied to one of the most hated moves in the game.
Cut is the first of the HM abilities that allow your Pokémon to perform actions outside of combat. You learn it to cut the small trees that block your way between stages, but as it turns out, this isn’t the only thing it can do.
If you use Cut while standing in tall grass, the move will instantly remove a huge patch of the plants, allowing you to traverse the area without triggering any wild encounters.
The move can be a huge time saver when you don’t feel like battling random Pokemon, and it’s an excellent alternative to the expensive repels.
Most people hate Cut because you’re forced to teach it to your Pokemon with no means of unlearning it. However, if you know this nifty trick, having a Pokemon with Cut in your party suddenly feels like a pro instead of a con.
