20 Video Game Villains You Never Realised Got The Last Laugh
13. Granthem Du'Met - The Devil In Me
The Devil In Me is the last entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology series, following a group of filmmakers trapped inside a hotel owned by a crazed serial killer.
The main villain, a masked man named Granthem Du’Met, is a true horror protagonist, a seemingly invincible force of terror that never stops pursuing his targets and doesn’t seem to die, no matter how much they throw at him.
In fact, his inability to die extends itself to the game’s multiple endings. In each epilogue, whether it’s good or bad, Mr. Du’Met seems to always come out on top.
In the good ending, where all or some of the characters survive, the killer is supposedly killed during the chase sequence on the lake, but right before the credits roll, he is seen rising from the water and ready to start his work over with another group of gullible victims.
In the bad ending, Du’Met promises to release the last two survivors if they lure in his next victims, but just as they are about to leave the island, the man shoots them with a sniper rifle.
Horror rule number one: the villain always wins.
