20 Video Games That Defined 20 Years Of PlayStation
15. Crash Bandicoot
If gaming mascots were washed up celebrities, then Crash Bandicoot would have been found face-down in a ditch years ago. He may have gone the way of the Dodo, but back in the day Crash starred in three platformers on the PS1 that have aged like a fine wine. Instead of being fully 3D, Naughty Dog limited levels to linear paths and dedicated all of the hardware's power to pushing polygons. Thanks to this smart design choice, the Crash Bandicoot games still manage to look nice today and don't have that muddy, low-resolution look that a lot of PS1 games suffer from. Crash Bandicoot represents the genesis of a very lucrative relationship between Naughty Dog and Sony that's still going strong today. If the first game wasn't successful, then it's possible that the likes of Uncharted, Jak & Daxter and The Last Of Us wouldn't exist today. Now that's a scary thought.
