20 Video Games That Defined 20 Years Of PlayStation
14. Resident Evil
Resident Evil defined survival-horror in games with its laughably bad voice acting, cryptic puzzles and a certain perfect jump-scare that made a generation of kids terrified of both dogs and ground floor windows. It found a massive audience on the PS1 that led to the next two games in the series being timed-exclusives for Sony's platform. Later on, even titles that were exclusive to other consoles (the Dreamcast's Code Veronica and the GameCube's Resident Evil 4) would eventually get ported to PlayStation. Resident Evil brought zombies back from the dead and made the PlayStation synonymous with the new, bone chilling genre that was survival-horror.
