To coincide with Super Mario Bros' 40-year anniversary, Nintendo will be serving up the latest entry in the Mario Tennis series, after an eight-year hiatus.

Set for a February release, Mario Tennis Fever has a huge roster and 30 different rackets, each with their own specific powers. You can build up your Fever Gauge by rallying, allowing you to unleash a special move when full.

Depending on what racket is equipped, you can create duplicates, shrink the opponent, or freeze sections of the court, giving you a huge advantage. Much like Mario Kart, these power-ups add a layer of strategy and unpredictability over traditional gameplay, making matches more chaotic but fun.

Not only does Fever contain a Tournament Mode, trials, and online play, it has an expansive Story mode, which is sure to keep single players occupied for hours on end. There's also a Mix It Up Mode, which includes Wonder effects, echoing the zaniness of Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Mario Tennis has never had the same level of popularity as other Mario spin-offs, but Fever is shaping up to be very promising indeed.
