20 Video Games That Mock You For Failing The Tutorial
7. You Were Both Buried Under A Weeping Willow - Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the medieval RPG, prides itself on its realism. This is why the intro to the game can be failed in a rather humiliating way if you do something no sane person in the Dark Ages (or modern times, for that matter) would do.
During the introduction in the starting village of Skalitz, you are given free rein of what to do. You can choose to pursue the main storyline and finish the tutorial, or you can run around and explore.
You can even commit crimes, but you really shouldn’t because this will lead to one of the most embarrassing game overs in Kingdom Come.
As soon as you’re caught stealing or misbehaving, a catchpole will attempt to arrest you, and if he succeeds, you will be given the options to pay for your crimes, flee, or go to jail.
Now, you might pick the last option, thinking you will just need to wait your sentence out or escape (like you do in Skyrim, for example) but in reality, jail-time during the tutorial will progress the story until Cumans attack Skalitz, and then a cutscene will play showing Henry being burned alive inside his jail cell.
You also get this cheery note telling you that Henry’s father buried you and your mother “under a weeping willow.” Lovely.
