20 Video Games That Mock You For Failing The Tutorial
12. Butch Is Done With You - Mewgenics
Mewgenics is a turn-based roguelike by the creator of the Binding of Isaac, Edmund McMillen, in which you breed cats and then pit them against other strays in the neighborhood.
The game is full of the dark humor you'd expect out of McMillen's games, and some of the jokes are even directed at the player if the game catches you acting really, really dumb in the tutorial.
Shortly after you begin the game, you are given an introduction to Mewgenics' base mechanics by Butch, a criminal working for the mad scientist who sends you on your quest of becoming a twisted cat breeder.
The tutorial is incredibly hands-on, with Butch explaining even the most obvious mechanics, but if you still somehow mess up, your underworld buddy will suddenly stop teaching and start sassing.
Doing things like attacking your allies or messing up your turns will result in Butch yelling at you and starting to angrily judge your poor decision-making skills before giving you pity turns to fix your mistakes.
His most devastating comment, however, has to be when you ignore his suggestion for a really good skill to give to your cat, making the disappointed Butch comment that "it's your life to screw up however you want."
The man is a bottomless pit of sass.
