20 Video Games That Mock You For Failing The Tutorial
13. Jail Time - America's Army
America's Army is a first-person shooter that is unique among its genre in that it has been developed by the actual US Army in order to educate and recruit new soldiers.
As you can imagine, an official game of the American military would be especially keen on making its gameplay realistic, and this doesn't just mean combat and training but also the rules and regulations that come with the soldier profession.
During the tutorial level, you have to go through proper military training, learning how to shoot your rifle, pass through difficult terrain, and so on.
The entire time, you are being observed by a drill sergeant who yells commands at you, which some people might find pretty annoying and want to do something about as soon as they get their hands on a weapon...
If you are one of those people and shoot your drill sergeant during training, the game will take this offense very seriously. Whereas in other FPS titles, a similar action would give you a generic game over screen, America's Army goes further and actually sends you to virtual jail with nothing but the sound of a sad harmonica playing in the background.
It's an official army game. What did you expect?
