20 Video Games That Secretly Reward You For Failure
18. Let Gale Die - Baldur's Gate 3
A party member's death is usually the last thing you'd want to happen in Baldur's Gate 3. It can cost you a lot of money or resurrection scrolls that you only get a limited amount of.
This said, there is one companion death that doesn't feel like a failure, and you can even get rewarded for letting him die!
Gale is the wizard in your party who has a secret affliction. More specifically, he's got an unstable artifact lodged into his body that can explode with the power of a magical nuke at any given time.
Because of this, Gale has prepared safety measures for when he dies, leading to a unique interaction and reward for completing them.
After Gale drops dead, his magical projection will appear above his body and tell you of a complex ritual that you can perform with the items from his satchel to get the only Scroll of True Resurrection in the game.
The ritual involves summoning an imp and performing overly specific tasks (as you would expect of a wizard's plan B), but if you do it correctly, you can walk away with the only revive item that brings your dead character back to life with full health.
And you don't even have to use it on Gale. Just saying.
