13. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ONT6-8B94Y Originally titled Metal Gear Solid: Rising, and originally set to be the next title from legendary development studio Kojima Productions, this title, starring cybernetic super solider Raiden, has underdone a lengthy metamorphosis since its debut way back in 2009. The game was several years into development at Kojima Productions, but things weren't quite working out the way they were supposed to. The developers were finding themselves unable to get the game to embody the concepts they had originally wanted, and decided to scrap the project completely in 2011. However, another studio, Platinum Games, heard about this, and offered to continue work on the project for Kojima Productions. Kojima agreed, and thus, the collaborative effort with the strange name was born. Why it will be awesome: Along with Demon/Dark Souls developer From Software, Platinum Games has emerged as one of the preeminent developers of Japanese video games over the last few years. After delivering the controversial cult hit MadWorld, Platinum delivered two of the very best action games of the PS 360 generation, Bayonetta and Vanquish. These games, with their outrageous premises, non-stop action, epic boss battles, and most notably, pitch perfect game controls, are consistently lauded as among the best in their respective genres. Platinum has created a reputation as a studio that makes brilliant action games that work impeccably well, and the idea with them collaborating with Kojima Productions on an action game based around a sword-slicing mechanic is mouth-watering to say the least. The game has already been completed, and preliminary reports from those in the media who have already gotten to play the game have been very positive. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance hits stores in February.
