20 Video Games With Cut Content That Change EVERYTHING

6. Most Of The Game - Dragon's Dogma

Breath of the Wild Minish
Capcom

Despite the staggering creativity behind Dragon's Dogma, the developers were constantly at odds with their budget. When their funds were sliced further in late development, the creators had to dump a whole bunch of material.

It's hard to know where to start when looking at deleted content, since nearly every aspect of Dragon's Dogma was impaired in some way. The world map has blocked-off roads and unfinished terrains, hinting that more explorable zones were devised. Data-miners found references to “Frontier Lands” and other unused location names, suggesting additional towns and wilderness areas were contemplated.

Many mechanics were partially developed but ultimately rejected, such as destructible environments, complex Pawn bonding, and horseback battles. (Ironically, horses didn't make it into the game at all.)

Based on the abrupt ending, players won't be surprised to learn the climax got hacked down too. Concept art and leftover dialogue implies a branching or choice-driven finale after the final boss is defeated.

Capcom's vision was compromised so badly, the 2024 sequel feels like a do-over, since the creators were finally able to make Dragon's Dogma the way they wanted to.
