Perhaps the only thing scarier than Resident Evil itself are its tank-like controls!

Yes, going back to Resident Evil is an exercise in patience; you're going back to a control scheme that was probably archaic when it was first invented, so there'll be a lot to adjust to. If you can get used to moving like a tank, you'll find a lot to love still in this classic zombie-slaying adventure which started one of the biggest franchises on the planet.

Including Resident Evil as part of the collection of games in a PS1 is an absolute essential. Who could forget memorable moments such as the terrifying dogs bursting through the windows, or the first time you encountered those god-awful giant spiders?

I did toy with the idea of replacing the original with either Resident Evil 2 or 3, which improve on the first game in many ways. However purely from a nostalgia standpoint, it has to be this classic survival horror experience which takes the spot.
